Congratulations to Conservative County Councillor Bonnie Hart, who has just become the Chairman of Essex County Council.
Bonnie used to be a District Councillor for Hockley. In fact, during the dark days for the Tories in the 1990s, when they were reduced to just two district councillors out of forty, she comprised half of their group, together with Wakering councillor Roy Pearson.
History does repeat itself sometimes
I wish her all the best in the role. According the the Echo the last time Essex County Council selected a chairman from the southern part of the county was in 1994. A gentleman from Southend called Ron Kennady. Does anyone remember anyone any closer to us than that being honoured with the role until now.
