Late last night some drunken youths decided to break trees surrounding Sweyne Park in The Downhall Park Way area and lay them out on the grass! Beggars Belief doesn’t it?!

So our local yoofs have been busy again, who is selling these morons the booze?
Someone reported it on fixmystreet this morning:

The District Coucnil have responded there, saying:

Thank you for your email. I have forwarded your comments to our Parks and Open Spaces Team to visit and remove the tree from the ditch and inspect the damage inside the park.
If you live in Downhall Park Way and see ASB occurring please call the police, the sooner these people are caught the better.
Not just Sweyne Park!
The state of the playing fields in Priory Crescent on Sunday morning was unbelievable bottles and all sorts of rubbish strewn across the field. This was way beyond the standard litter seen which we see as the norm. Parents and Young players cleared the pitches so girls and boys matches could take place, however after they left groups of mixed youths moved onto the field and by mid afternoon the field was once again in a similar state.
Why are there not more bins on the upper field, but looking at the photo of the pointless graffiti new container installed by the local football team this weekend the mindlessness of some wouldn’t use them. I guess as the weather warms we will see more of this through the summer!

It’s a complete waste of time putting in bins – these teen baboons will not use them and are more likely to wreck them. We need a concerted police effort to stop it, not a few extra patrols for a couple of weeks but a long term approach to deal with it.
My friend & I regularly walk around Sweyne Park, & enjoy the open space & various features. We feel it is a lovely facility for local people to enjoy all year round. However, during our ramble yesterday we were upset to see the amount of litter strewn everywhere, including the lake. Even the lifebelt had been thrown into the water!A few more litter bins might help, particularly for the fishermen using the lake, but zero tolerance patrols by the local Police, over a few weeks would probably be more effective against the anti social behaviour experienced recently. We should NOT allow the minority to spoil the park which gives so much pleasure to so many people of all ages!!
Chris, have the local police been informed about this ? We seem to have a number of yoofs in the area who have no respect whatsoever for the park or anything else.
Yes, I have emailed the police…
