Speedy Highways Action

At about 10.00 this morning a resident of Ferndale Road saw our town council Lib Dem colleague Bruce Smart – and complained about a pot hole in Hullbridge Road, Rayleigh at the entrance to Ferndale Road.

Bruce rang Lyn Harvey , the District Highways Engineer at Essex County Council who drove over to look at the hole. Lyn decided it was a ‘category one’ and ask for this to be filled as soon as possible. By 1.30 it had been repaired. Well done Highways for this rapid action.

• If I wasn’t already planning on voting LibDem for the local elections, I feel this would be the clincher. Feel as though I’m going to be the only red in the national ward however.

• Could be due to your complaint Ian but the point of comment was to praise Highways for their speedy action. If responding to your report it is still very quick as Monday was a bank holiday.

• I am glad that this pothole has been sorted, but what about other ones?

I sent this one to the ‘fix your street’ website:
http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/111528
+
it said in the Downhall & Rswreth Lib focus that they have reported it.
It was great to see red paint markings put down but when will the “Speedy Highways Action” sort that out?

or the one at
corner of Torquay Close and Teignmouth Drive?

broken and warped pavement corner of Torquay Close and Teignmouth Drive
which lead into Down Hall Primary school?

Like I said it is great that something has been done with this one but what about others?
(it is a lot worse than it looks in the photo)

• Ian and Jane

I had a very helpful phone call yesterday evening that explains a little how they fit FixMysStreet in their office procedures
Basically the Fix Mys Street report from Ian was recorded into their inhouse system by Tuesday morning and an inspector was going to look at it but hadm’t actually done so before Bruce phoned.

FixMyStreet has many advantages – it lets other people know what you’ve done, it enables you to attach photos and you can pinpoint the location on a map. But maybe the best thing to do is to comabine reporting it on FixMyStreet with a phone call to County Highways on 0845 603 7623 .

I will phone them on Monday especially re Torquay Close!

• I reported the cracked/uneven pavement between Downhall Park Way and Bristol Close months ago (October 2009), and nothing appears to have been done.

Someone had marked it up with red paint, I assumed with the intention of repairing it, back in early 2009, long before my complaint of FixMyStreet. It appears to have been forgotten about.

• Just a quick update, workmen were working on the Hambro shop parade on Sunday and there are red markings on broken and warped pavement on the corner of Torquay Close and Teignmouth Drive (+ more along that end of Teignmouth Drive).

Good news!
Just waiting on work on building those crossings…..
