The FixMyStreet website is a good way of reporting problems in a road:

You can indicate exactly on a map the location you are talking about – very useful if you are reporting , say, a pothole in along road.
You can attach photos if you want to.
You can set email alerts so that other local people can see what you have reported.

But if something is URGENT it’s better to phone the council.

Here are some recent reports:

a 1 metre pothole in Norman Crescent, Rayleigh

a 2 metre long pothole in Kings Farm, Rayleigh

Speeding traffic in Stambridge Road “The traffic speed on this road is very dangerous and somebody will be killed unless the speed limit is brought down”

  • I reported some potholes locally 10 weeks ago with amazing results. Within 24 hours a bloke appeared with an orange aerosol and outlined them. However 10 weeks later the orange marks are beginning to fade and the potholes are still there!!
Perhaps the highways people are waiting for them to get deep enough to be called serious?!
