Rawreth residents may remember the application at Searles Yard in Trenders Avenue , off Rawreth Lane. The yard is currently used for the reclamation of building materials and the owners wanted to build three houses there. The key issue with the application was that it was in the Green Belt.

This was a particularly tough application to judge – in fact Chris voted AGAINST permission and Ron voted FOR it. The council as a whole voted against the application , so it was refused.

However the applicants have gone to appeal, and we’ve just heard that a planning inspector will be decide the matter at an “Informal Hearing ” on August 22nd . It starts at 10:00 am at the Civic Suite in Rayleigh.
