Do You Use Hullbridge Library?

We know that Hullbridge Library is used by some Rayleigh families as well as those who live in the village itself.

If you do use Hullbridge Library, how useful would it be to have the toilets there open to the public?

  • We use the Hullbridge Library and it should have toilets. Twice we have been caught short twice. The first was when our daughter had just finished potty training…. (always a stressful time for parent and child!) The second was more recently and we had to leave the library and come back later.

Hullbridge Library and other Libraries are used by all ages and groups, including parent and toddlers and visits from local Nurseries and pre-schools. I am sure that staff would rather people that use the Library had access to a toilet rather than have puddles…. (or worse!)

It’s not just children that need access to toilets but also elderly and people with physical disabilities who can feel isolated and unable to use the Library facilities. People spend hours searching their family trees so it is not improbable that might sometimes need to use that a toilet.

I actually believe that all public Libraries should have toilets but I know that there is a staff toilet would it be so difficult to provide access to at oilet for users of the Library?

We live in Rayleigh and both Hullbridge Library and Rayleigh Library are a bus or car journey away. I can’t drive and going on the bus is ok but they only come every 20mins (I think)so it is a bit of a gamble taking the children by bus because when they do say they need the toilet then they really need to go NOW!

We like Hullbridge Library because it is compact and the children’s books are very logically laid out and easy to search through for both children and their grownups. The staff are very friendly and there is not any self service collection points (hate those). We know that we are not the only Rayleigh family to use it.

Library books are free but we need toilets in case we need to spend a penny! 😉
