Christmas Tree Farm And Coombes Farm Applications Refused.

A government inspector has turned down a couple for appeals by developers for big planning applications in Hawkwell and Rochford/Stambridge borders – 330 homes at the “Christmas Tree” Farm site, and 326 at Coombes Farm.

The District council has an artcile about it on it’s website here. This is good news.

However the article has the quote:

It also clearly demonstrates that the Secretary of State, his officers and Inspectors are listening and taking account of the wishes of local people.

Perhaps the District Council should be listening to ” the wishes of local people” as well, in places like Hullbridge and Rawreth? For example, the Coombes Farm application on the Stambridge/Rochford border had some strong similarities to what the council is supporting on the Rawreth/ Rayleigh border.

  • Oh my, from the council web page;

    ‘The Council’s approach to limited development in appropriate and sustainable locations has been accepted by the Secretary of State, supporting this Council’s rejection of inappropriate, ad hoc development in our green belt.

    It also clearly demonstrates that the Secretary of State, his officers and Inspectors are listening and taking account of the wishes of local people. I am indebted to our officers for their sound guidance and advice in encouraging us to proceed with our Core Strategy, which has proven to be such a powerful weapon with which to defend the quality of life of our residents’.
