At Full Council tonight –

It was announced that the government inspector , Laura Graham, has basically approved the District Council’s Core Strategy for future housing and development. The Inspector’s report should be on the council’s website tomorrow.

Chris Black’s immediate response was to ask when councillors would be considering the results of the public consultation on the ‘site allocation’ document (from Spring 2010).

The answer appears to be next spring.

  • Councillor Hoy has an interesting article here;

    Castle Point is undertaking the local housing study that Mike and I asked Rochford to do many times.

    But another article here;

    ……….calculates that planning permissions for 876 (or 976 with a windfall) new homes could possibly have been given planning permission before consultation on “Preferred Sites” next Spring and before the Full DPD which will be put forward next Summer !!

    That is according to Mike “3-4 years worth of building under the Core Strategy”.

    So sites for about, say, 20/25% of the total could have determined sites before consultation on where the actual sites might be.
