We have received the following info:
Dear All.
Please note that the roads around the Hambro Shops have been closed, there has been an incident involving an HGV lorry and a electricity pole.
If you are proceeding east along Rawreth Lane you can only go as far as Exmouth Drive, you will then be diverted around the back roads, you cannot turn left into Hullbridge Road as Rawreth Lane is closed from this point.
Coming from the station end of Downhall Road you cannot turn left towards the Hambro shops as the road is closed you are directed to turn right up Hambro Hill, and again are diverted around the back roads.
We are told the roads will be closed until 10pm tonight, Please allow a lot of extra time for your journey as Watery Lane and Beeches Road are currently under a closure order due to resurfacing works and all traffic was being diverted along Hullbridge Road and Rawreth Lane. We are checking to see if Watery Lane and Beeches Road are being re-opened to help with traffic flow and will keep you updated
Kind Regards
Hayley Bloomfield
Clerk to Rawreth Parish Council
MORE INFORMATION:
Dear all,
I have received the following information from Cllr Stephen Castle who following my earlier email has been working to try and get Watery Lane and Beeches Road re-opened.
A traffic management company has been called in to assist with a diversion. The police are also on the scene assisting.
Due to the construction on Watery Lane, they are unable to open it until Monday, but they are adding two-way traffic lights within the hour to assist traffic on this road.
Kind Regards
Hayley Bloomfield
Clerk to Rawreth Parish Council
Perhaps the request for the cutting of the corner here to help lorries turning into Hullbridge Road will be reconsidered.
Buses are stopping at Rayleigh Stn, with a shuttle bus to Hullbridge via Hockley, so if you live off of Downhall Rd you will have to walk.
I hear from a Mortimer Road resident that power may not be back until 1 or 2 am….
Here are same pic of them sorting out the pole

(Touch wood) We have power – so only some of Mortimer Road is affected.
I think we just had a power cut this morning
well they have moved the pole back by over a meter now.
Regarding cutting the corner.
Can we leave the corner where it is please.
It will only encourage wider and bigger vehicles through Hullbridge that can’t already cut through Watery Lane
This was a very unusual delivery and the company should have done their homework on the route to be taken.
Does anyone know who pays the bill for the repairs?
If the HGV stopped I’m sure a large bill is heading their way
Sadly the reality is that large vehicles do use this road. i.e those delivering mobile homes to Hullbridge and the Dome sites. There is no other route they can take. Please Peter come and stand on the opposite side of this road or wait in your car on the other side when a large vehicle takes this corner. It is quite intimidating.
