The www.spinnermusic.co.uk website has a feature called “Around the Uk in 80 venues” and this month they got to the Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh.


“……The Pink Toothbrush was initially opened in 1976 as a glam club called El-Pedrinos. In 1979 it changed its and name to Crocs. The reason? The club was home to two live crocodiles that were on display in a cage. The music policy was changed and it became an ‘alternative club’ attracting goths and punks and, apparently, members of Depeche Mode and Culture Club. The crocodiles were eventually given to Colchester Zoo, and the owners were told that the beasts were in fact alligators……”
