Judging by what’s being written on Facebook, tonight a lot of us are thinking about London…..
But things seem to be quiet in Essex. The Police advise:
Essex Police would like to dispel a number of fictitious and malicious rumours which are circulating this evening, particularly on social networking sites.
.
We would like to inform residents of Essex there is no rioting in the county akin to what has been seen on the news as happening in parts of London.
.
We understand how distressing these rumours must be to residents of Essex and can assure people there is no substance in them.
.
We have had some minor incidents of disorder in the Buckhurst Hill area.
.
Essex Police has a significant number of resources on duty this evening, Monday, August 8, to offer reassurance to residents who are worried by the events unfolding in the capital.
.
We are working hard to ensure the county remains safe and we have sufficient trained police officers on duty to deal with any situation should it arise.
.
However, if anyone does see anything that concerns them, particularly any incidents of violence or disorder, they should call 999.
It’s reassuring to know that Essex Police are doing everything they can, but I can’t help feeling extremely concerned for the safety of people I know who live and work in the affected areas.
