Who Needs Help With The Digital Switchover?

We have had the following from Hayley Bloomfield, the Rawreth Parish Clerk, which we are glad to pass on:

Dear all,

As you may or may not be aware anyone in this area who uses the Sudbury transmitter to receive TV (they are the ones who get Look East for their local BBC TV news) is likely to need to adapt their TV to continue getting TV after July this year.

For those vulnerable members of the community (mainly the elderly and disabled), the Government has a formal scheme to assist in converting one TV in the home. For many, it will be free.

The Parish Council are assisting local volunteers to try and make sure that all those eligible people know about the scheme – and get the help they need. However, this can only be done by talking to “people who know people” – friends, neighbours, family, carers etc.

If you know of anyone in the Parish who may benefit from this scheme, or you feel may need help with the switchover could you please contact me or one of the Parish Councillors as we have information packs that can be distributed, we are also on hand to help with any questions.

Or if you are in Rayleigh, Hullbridge or Rochford and need help or know someone else who need help, contact Andrew Abrahams at andrew.abrahams@vaessex.org.uk

Many thanks in advance.

Kind Regards
Hayley Bloomfield

  • I have asked for a copy of the pack to be given to Chris, Ron and myself. Anyone that is stuck can have 3 other possible help lines. Perhaps though this is a community venture with all of us looking out for and helping our neighbours if necessary. Any mention of a big society here must be censored.
