Asda’s consultants have written hundreds of pages in defence of their planning application.
We aren’t going to discuss it here, except to say that Asda’s adviser seems to think that their scheme was refused for ‘political’ reasons. This made us laugh, because ‘going political’ on this would have been a pretty stupid thing to do when the Lib Dems are outnumbered 34 to 4 in the council chamber.
We have looked at this very carefully, but purely on its planning merits – and that’s why we’ve been supported on this by many Conservatives.
