We heard today that Maureen Vince, who was the last remaining Labour member of the District Council until she was defeated last May, won’t be standing again next year in Rochford. This must give a big boost to the sitting Tory councillor, Sue Harper, who is up for re-election then.
Maureen has always been a dignified and hard-working councillor, and she’s a classic example of someone who’s lost because they wouldn’t desert an unpopular political party.
I have heard that the BNP will be standing in Rochford Town centre against Sue Harper and possibly varous other wards next year within the district. They are going to put in a good fight due to the increase of over development in Rochford town centre
I think there could be a lot of parties standing in the district next May.
