From the District Council website:

After a successful year as Chairman, Councillor June Lumley presented her chosen charities with cheques totalling over ?10,000.

Councillor Lumley, who was Rochford District Council?s Chairman for the year 2014/15, held a special ceremony at the Civic Suite, Rayleigh to award Crouch Valley Scouts, Rochford Extended Services, Rochford Older Peoples Welfare Committee, Rochford Community Archive, Rayleigh Through The Looking Glass, Friends of Holy Trinity Rayleigh, Supporting Carers and Families Together (SCAFT), Rayleigh Age Concern and Dolphin Court with cheques from the money she raised from the many fundraising activities she held during her year in office.

After the event Councillor Lumley said: ?I am so honoured that I am able to make these donations to charities that are so close to my heart.

?During my time as Chairman I was given the opportunity to meet so many amazing community groups and organisations who deliver vital services, support and activities which go a long way to improving the quality of life for our residents and their families.

?I hope that the money I have raised will go some way to ensuring that these charities can continue offering the community their valuable services?.
