Grange is another ward where four people are standing for three places. And there are very distinctive choices on offer.
The best known candidates are Chris and June Lumley, who have been independent town councillors here for around 10 years. It’s fair to say that Chris and June have built up a reputation as dedicated ward councillors, with regular newsletters. They of course sit as Lib Dems on the District, but see their role on the Town Council as being non-party-political.
The other two candidates are definitely party-political. There is Keith Podd standing for the Conservatives, and Jamie Burton standing for UKIP. Mr Burton is also standing in Rayleigh Central Ward for the District Council – we’d love to know how he plans to look after two wards if he wins both seats…
