The grass cutting in Sweyne Park has noticeably taken that much longer to get to grips with this year and with the heatwave there have now been numerous fires in the park.
Concerned residents have, rightly so, been in touch with the Focus team and, of course, we had already been chasing the Council to cut these areas for many weeks now with little success. We’re now told the last field will be cut this coming Monday.
It’s disappointing that the fields weren’t cut sooner and we are told this was due to labour and machinery shortages, but perhaps the failure to get on top of the problem was just pure bad planning.
With council cuts sweeping the nation with a bleak economic outlook for local authorities, this could mean that services like grass cutting could become more infrequent in the future.
