There’s some good news for our District Council this month – there’s going to be big savings on our new IT contract.
Rochford went into a partnership with Castle Point, Colchester and Braintree to go out to tender jointly on an IT contract to serve all four authorities.
The end result is that there are economies of scale that come from four councils working together. Rochford will save about ?400,000 over the next five years from this partnership.
In this instance there’s been some useful cross-party co-operation. A special panel of Rochford councillors was set up to monitor the process. And whilst the lead councillor here in Rochford was Conservative Gill Lucas-Gill, at Colchester the key councillor was Lib Dem Blogger Nick Barlow.
