Rayleigh Town Council want to have hanging floral baskets in the Websters Way car park, as part of “Rayleigh In Bloom”. But the District Council refused permission for the white acrylic plaques that would show the name of the sponsors of each basket.
The Town Council is trying again, with a planning application at next Thursday’s Development Control committee. This time they are asking for aluminium plaques in green and gold. Its difficult to predict what will happen.
Do onlinefocus readers have any views on any small ways to enhance the town centre, or to improve the effectiveness of “Rayleigh in Bloom”?
Sure do – stop those blasted chuggers ( Charity Muggers ) from harrasing people between the area of Clinton Cards & Santander, just because they are wearing a T shirt with a charity logo does not give then the right to pester the life out of people. If I get stopped one more time they will need a charity themselves – the St John’s Ambulance……Grrrr.
The chuggers were there on Saturday afternoon and one yuong man was rather in your face. However I was not approached but then I am not young or female. The matter has been raised at the town Council by myself and Clr Jane Carvalho with support from ex Chair Clr Cheryl Roe. There are guidelines for these people to follow. But why does anyone give out their details to a stranger in the street? If we all said no they would stop wasting their time.
