A few minutes ago we received the folllowing crime warning via Rawreth Parish Council

We have been advised that the attempted theft of household fuel is taking place in the Parish. Anyone who has oil stored on their premises needs to be extra vigilant as it would appear the persons in question will attempt to steal oil from anything and are equipped with pumps etc.

The persons in question are operating from a white courier type van registration N23 CWA, we are advised there are three men in the van and we have been advised that you should not approach them but call the police who are aware of the attempted thefts.

We guess that people in neighbouring parishes should be made of aware of this as well….

  • We ain’t seen nothing yet!…I take no pleasure in anticipating that the security of energy will be an increasing concern for our communities as we pass Peak Oil and start to see costs rise.

Now, we could just bemoan our lot, dream up elaborate conspiracies, chase criminals or….we could anticipate these changes, make ourselves more cooperative and resilient, and manage this well…

Some Online Focus readers may already know that I have spoken with the Parish Council and others about the idea of generating a Transition movement for the area. There is already the beginnings of a Core Group, and we hope to be able to do some public involvement events during 2010, but I would be glad to hear from anyone else who wants to find out more about what we propose, and who wants to throw some energies (!!!) behind it.

Do be in touch (via the parish blog in the first instance, I would suggest)…
