Quite a few planning applications coming up

Next Tuesday night’s council committee meeting will have to decide quite a few planning applications .

These include:

  • 4 applications for ‘rooms in the roof’ for the new houses being built behind 56 Hullbridge Road (which we mentioned here)
  • These 4 are recommended by the officers for approval (a fifth one has already been refused on grounds of overlooking)

  • A tenpin bowling alley in Hockley (previously mentioned here and here)
  • . This one is recommended for refusal.

  • A revised application at the Flacks Nursery Site in Eastwood Road Rayleigh. This is a slightly complicated one but still interesting. A housing scheme here has already been passed. However the developers haven’t built what they was supposed to – on part of the site they have built 4 2-bedroomed cottages instead of 2 3-bedroomed ones. Ths significance of this is that overall the developer is now building more than 24 new homes – and that means , according to the council’s policy, that some of them should be affordable ones. Therefore the officers are recommending that the scheme be refused.
  • A scheme for 19 flats and 4 houses at the Garage site in Southend Road Great Wakering.
  • A pair of houses at 133 Eastwood Road, Rayleigh. This is a revised version of a similar application refused in October. The officers are recommending that this one be delegated for them to approve later once the consultation period on this application expires. The applicant is Mr Pannel.
