Despite what we said on Saturday, there is no application from Southend United on the schedule for the planning meeting on December 19th. We have instead applications for:
1. Dust extraction equipment at Benchmark Doors Ltd in Main Road, Hawkwell (recommended for approval)
2. Four flats north of Johnson Court, North Street Rochford (recommended to delegate to the officers to approve)
3. Demolition of outbuildings and erection of new 432 square metre greenhouse and fencing next to 43 Shoebury Road, Great Wakering (recommended to delegate to the officers to approve)
4. Allowing extended pre Christmas opening hours at Makro, Rawreth Lane, (recommended to delegate to the officers to approve). In case you are wondering , their “pre-Christmas” period starts from the third Monday in November.
I understand Makro is open till 10pm 7 days a week at the moment. This doesn’t appear to be in line with Mr Scrutton’s report, unless I’ve misread something! It used to close at 5.30 on a Sunday & 7pm on a Saturday. Anyone who shops there will know that most customers (particularly at the weekend) are not your normal ‘wholesale/ cash & carry customers’!
Have just returned from shopping trip to Makro, their hours have changed from last weekend. Apparently due to RDC they will not be open till 10pm this Saturday and Sunday as previously advertised. Although signage at the store’s exit still maintains it will be open till 10pm 7 days a week. Clarified the situation with reception staff & they said it was this week that their hours were reduced due to the RDC Planning Dept!
