If you are especially interested in future development issues, there’s a meeting in Southend next Tuesday that might interest you:

Southend Consultation Event – East of England Plan > 2031
23/09/2009
19:00 – 20:30
The Council Chamber, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Victoria Avenue, SS2 6E

Over the next 20 years, the East of England will have a growing economy and a population expanding by up to 50,000 people a year. Along with other social trends, this creates demand for new housing.

The Government has asked the East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) to review regional planning policy to plan for new jobs and homes up to 2031 and beyond.

This consultation event will focus on Southend and provide an opportunity for members of the public and interested organisations to discuss the economic, environmental and social trends and the choices we need to make to plan for the future.

  • Why Southend? Should EERA have consulted everyone before the various core strategies were at such an advanced state ,they must have some money to spend on jollies before they are disbanded so a nice day by the seaside is in order ,before they receive their big pay offs!Good place to start, with the massive cuts in public spending promised by all political parties, who is to be the boldest?
