  • When I enquired yesterday they said £20 joining fee! Others I know have been quoted no joining fee.
Apparently they also discount if you work for one of their recognised employers – such as Essex County Council too.

  • Whilst we are on the subject of Rayleigh Leisure, what right do they have in erecting a large banner style advertising hording on the grass in Rawreth Lane adjacent Priory Chase. I presume they have not been granted planning permission for this. Ironically, included in the advert is the Rochford District Council logo and the message that the two are working in partnership.
If RDC have knowledge of this they should be ashamed.

  • Well said Greenbelt, they can jump on a voluntry non profit organisations sign within two weeks, where as Virgin Active are a profit making organisation making a profit out of the taxpayers that actually own the facility they are making the money from.

  • Definitely need a pool in Rayleigh! When I first moved in 3 years ago local residents living on Priory Chase and Temple Way were offered a membership discount at the Leisure Centre – Don’t know if this is still the case though?

  • Hi Sid, why do you believe that the Tories are fed up with us asking for a swimming pool in Rayleigh? Might it be because they cannot afford one now, is it that they do not now have any leverage over developers in the district or, for the million $ question is it that they have no say in what happens in our district. Answers on a postcard please RDC!

Would it not be democratic, just for once to get answers from RDC on another website! but they will just say that they do not read other website comments.

The developers cannot afford to contribute to building a community swimming pool. Do any Tory Councillors remember this comment? Or should I remind the residents who said this??

  • Answers on a postcard to Mike Nobes, please!!Or maybe someone from the Conservative Party might like to explain the financial impact of a development company not putting money into the benefit of the community rather into the coffers of the Conservative party for the next election.(my own comments and observations).
