How Would The Conservatives Change The Planning System If They Won The General Election?

The general election is getting too close to call, with the Conservatives only 2 percent ahead in the latest opinion poll.

But it’s still worth looking at the Conservative’s proposals for changing / improving the planning system.

Hawkwell Councillor John Mason has been studying them carefully, and writes about it here. .

His conclusion:

Many residents in Rayleigh, Hawkwell, Hullbridge, Rochford and Stambridge were hoping that the Conservative Party nationally would be the ?white knight? which would promise to save their green belt if only they returned a Conservative Government. May be?. may be not?

It seems to be that the Conservatives are offering nice ideas such as abolishing regional housebuilding targets – but also saying that there’s a presumption that a planning application will be approved if it is “sustainable”.
