Have you received a copy of the winter edition of Rochford District matters?

If you haven’t , you can read the contents from the council website here.

But we’d be interested to know whether or not you’ve received one , because we are aware of distribution problems due to the bad weather.

About the author, admin

  • No and how much does it cost to produce and distribute? Certainly not an item that I would miss but is it a legal requirement? Perhaps one way to save a few pounds.

  • I actually recieved a copy through the post before christmas .I cannot remember when i last recieved a copy as i have been asking for one for years !! I have read it ,now it is being used to wrap the turkey fat up for recycling !!

  • I have now had a quick glance at the online version of Rochford District Matters and am pleased to read that I can now put branches of up to 30cm (12 inches) diameter in the compostable bin. Second thoughts, I still prefer to split them down and burn them on my wood burner.

  • Admin, I am submitting it again as it is better placed under this heading.

I don’t know how often ‘Rochford District Matters’ is distributed but as far as I can recall the last copy we received in Rawreth Lane was probably March 2010 when the council tax information became available. I have received no information at all on refuse collection dates etc. since 2009.

  • Just tried to read the Christmas message from the Chairman of the council only to be presented with message saying “Sorry, but the page you were looking for is not here”.
Yet another example of poor reporting by RDC.

  • the postman has just delivered my copy of RDM. This is despite RDC telling before Xmas that they had already been distributed. Another case of the council ignoring its residents’ feedback I’m afraid.

  • Alistir, out of interest, did your postal copy arrive in a stamped, addressed envelope or loose? If the former, it means a special delivery by RDC to you personally, so rest of Rawretgh may, or may not, have got their copy.

  • As you say it was stamped and addressed so Rawreth may well not be covered will ask next wednesday .Greenbelt does not appear to have one and he lives in Rawreth Lane .I had been asking for years for a copy .It used to be distributed by the yellow advertiser i believe but there may be other arrangements now ,they do not appear to have improved distribution .

  • To add to this, in the early days of RD Matters I was receiving two separate deliveries of each issue, usually a couple of days apart. I reported this to RDC but they did not appear to have any control over the delivery process. Probably franchised out!
Happy New Year to all OnlineFOCUS readers.

  • I’m hearing that copies are still being delivered across Hockley, some 6 weeks late (and 3 weeks after the budget survey therein closed)! Is any other area still experiencing problems?

  • STI no I have never had the yellow advertiser delivered hence never recieved the RD matters .Brian if royal mail are delivering presumably as “junk mail” why was mine stamped and addressed ? surely should be with the farm foods ,double glazing, and insurance drops to every household .|Strangely enough we often get newsletters dropped by the Royal Mail from Jon Baron the neighbouring MP ,never seen one from Mark though !

  • Alistir, you are correct. Many areas of Hockley have not received their copies this time but RDC have refused to redistribute. However, they will individually post copies to specific addresses where complaints have been made. I guess from your earlier comments that you have complained before and are therefore on their list. Anyone who does not receive copies can email Patrick.John@Rochford.gov.uk and ask to be added to the postal distribution list. I hope residents in Rawreth (and others) will do this.
