hambro parade

When Ron Oatham and Chris Black recently received an email from County Highways entitled “Hullbridge Road/Rawreth Lane” we were quite excited – we thought, improvements to the Hullbridge Road / Lane junction at last!

However the truth is a bit less dramatic. County Highways are simply making some minor adjustments to make it easier for vehicles to turn into Hambro Parade to stop them blocking Hullbridge Road. The main item is install signs and yellow bar markings (no loading at anytime) at the entrance to stop delivery lorries blocking the entrance. They are also refreshing the existing road markings and installing new signs to replace some of the old ones.

  • Are they taking the Micky or what ???? .
I watched a low-loader Lorry , coming from Hullbridge turn right into Rawreth Lane,
the Cab section wheels turned diagonally accross the painted roundabout and the
rear trailer wheels entered Rawreth Lane on the wrong side of the road ( ie: Eastbound lane ). Cars waiting in that lane had to back up to let him through.
No doubt on his way down there earlier his wheels contributed to the chewing away
of the verge / kerbing on the corner ( where the Mark Francois notice board is ).
Wish I had a camera with me , ideal for the coming countryside appeal hearing.

  • For years I have been asking for a slip road from Rawreth Lane into Hullbridge Road so traffic can ease round to Hullbridge. The lorries, especially those with mobile homes need more space than at present. We need a major improvement here even if no more houses are built.

  • The email detailing the changes went to Rawreth Parish council, not Rayleigh Town Council and to Stephen Castle who hasn’t been a county Councillor since the last election!!
Just shows how switched on and dynamic County Highways (AKA Ringway Jacobs) are.

  • If there is any paint left any chance of marking the junction at Harbets Way/ Downhall Park Way ?, I will send highways a map if they need one, as its taken so long!!!!!

  • Geoff , I spoke to County Highways yesterday, the junction has been inspected, and its on the list to be repainted, but no date yet for it to be done. I reckon months….
