It’s at Rawreth Village Hall, starts at 7:30 , the public get a free hot drink and a chance to question councillors and get an update from County Highways.

We don’t know how much effort Conservative District councillors put into encouraging the public to come – too many of them seem to think the whole things a chore – but we want to see residents come along.

Update 1 :30 pm Tuesday 30th: The meeting has been postponed, due to the weather.

  • Just as a warning – the roads/paths outside school today dreadful, I guess that despite it being a school it is not a road that is gritted, loads of incidents and cars getting stranded!Best avoid Uplands Park Road and all the small surrounding roads today, especially those on the hill!

  • We had a lamp post knocked down in Downhall Park Way at the weekend, judging by the tyre tracks the car came round the bend by Bristol Close, lost it, then found some grip and “over-corrected” onto the pavement. The lamp post next to the post box was bent and split open when I went past Saturday, and has been removed and the site fenced off by Sunday.

Very slippery on the side roads, and even some main roads at times.

  • One further observation. I used Websters Way carpark on Saturday morning, and found it was completely untreated. The aisles were slightly slushy so it was fairly easy to drive on them, but the actual parking areas were packed snow. Having reversed into a space I found I could not drive out again when I returned. Fortunately I carry some old car mats in the boot when it snows, and was able to put these under my front tyres and get enough traction to drive out.

However, driving past Asda I noted that their carpark had been fully cleared, as had Sainsbury’s at Chelmsford. Do the local authorities not consider carparks when it snows?
