The Council’s Executive – the ‘cabinet’ – meets on April 2nd.
There are two items – one is the “Rochford Growth Strategy 2014 -2017 ” , which we are still reading. It’s 21 pages on promoting economic growth in the District.
The second is “Draft Open Spaces Strategy”, which is private and confidential, so we can’t tell you anything about it….
The way the council is run at the moment, the only councillors who can speak at these meetings are the 8 members of the cabinet themselves, all Conservatives. Only one is from Rayleigh – Councillor Simon Smith.
Another one for the Evening Echo I think – obviously “open spaces” are another national security issue that is not in the public interest to publish……..wake up folks!!!.
And in a nutshell that sums up exactly what is wrong with RDC. Secrecy, lack of discussion, stifling of debate. If the “Cabinet” system is to be adopted it should include at least two non tories for balance. As forpromoting economic growth in the area – well, reinstate free Saturday afternoon parking springs to mind.
My thoughts entirely Jim. Why is what appears such an innocuous topic be private and confidential? Who decides what is and is not in this category?
Can only be one thing – they are planning to build on open spaces somewhere, which they don’t want to advertise prior to elections………….mark my words – JIm.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes
A good question Jason.
Good to see a question in the style of Stanley Unwin……
Good to see some Latin again on onlinefocus …
