The District Council’s “Car Park Customer Survey 2010” recently went to the cabinet member, Keith Hudson for consideration. He decided that it simply be noted:

1
DECISION MADE
1.1
That the report and survey results be noted and that a further car park survey
be carried out in spring 2012.
2
REASON FOR DECISION
2.1
In accordance with the Planning and Transportation Divisional Plans a car
park customer survey was conducted in the summer of 2010. This is the
latest biennial survey intended to provide feedback on how we are continuing
to meet the needs of our customers.
3
ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS CONSIDERED
3.1
No alternative options considered.
4
NAME OF PORTFOLIO HOLDER
4.1
Cllr KH Hudson.

You can find the report here -though there’s not too much read.

Although the cabinet member simply decided to note it. Some opposition councillors felt it should be discussed, and so councillors Michael Hoy, Chris Black and Ron Oatham have called it in to full council in February.

  • How was the car park customer survey conducted? Was it mailed out to a selected group, or did they approach users in the town car parks?

I’m sure it’s not easy to select a method of canvasing people for surveys, but now I know that the survey does exist it would be nice to get the opportunity to provide feedback next time.

  • Would be interesting to know what effect, if any, the free Saturday parking before Christmas had. With petrol prices constantly rising perhaps more people would shop locally if parking was cheaper or even free, rather than make the journey to Lakeside.
