Application For A Site For Travelling Show People

There’s a slightly unusual planning application that’s gone in on the land opposite 2 Goldsmith Drive, Rayleigh, Essex. This is close to the border with Rawreth.

The application is for ‘Change Use of Land to Form Site for Travelling Showpeople.’ So this isn’t the same as an application to provide caravan pitches for ‘ordinary’ travellers.

The application number is 11/00741/COU and you can find it on the district council website here.

As district councillors, Chris Black and Ron Oatham cannot how to decide how to vote, or indicate how they will vote, in advance of any planning meeting. (However ,as solely a Town Councillor, Bruce Smart is free to comment!)

About the author, admin

  • Thanks Chris. I will attend teh Rayleigh Town Council planning meeting on Tuesday when this will be raised. I am hopeful that the oficers advice will be followed. However, anyone reading this, please remember that the final decision does rest wiwth the District Council.

  • Admin, this proposal has been known about for some time now but unfortunately, perhaps by oversight, you have featured it on the very day that public comment closed. I raised this application with Rawreth Parish Council about two weeks ago and it is now an agenda item for their meeting next Wednesday 4th January.
In future, please could you circulate such planning items at the first opportunity.
    Happy New Year to all.

  • Apologies Greenbelt, will try to do better in future.

But comments to the council can still be submitted. The date for submitting is simply the date that guarantees you comments will be teken into account before the officers report is written. If it is going to committee people can and do submit comments almost up to the date of the meeting (and a summary of their views is included in the addendum circulated to councillors at the start of the meeting).

If it does go to committee, the next meeting is on Jan 26th.
