The Yellow Advertiser reported this week :

A TIME capsule has been buried at a Rayleigh housing development.
Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, and five students from St Nicholas CofE Primary School placed a box containing present day items at the new development, off Rawreth Lane.
Inside, the capsule contains letters from pupils, artwork and a newspaper from the day. It will remain sealed until 2061.
Headteacher, Lorna Pigram, said: ?We were delighted to be asked to take part in this project.
?This will enable future generations to explore some of the work done by the children at our school in 2011.
?The children have thoroughly enjoyed producing the work and filling the time capsule.?
The new housing development, which will be managed by Rochford Housing, will see the construction of 23 one and two-bedroom apartments.

It’s a nice idea, and some of the pupils around at the sealing of the capsule will hopefully come back for the unsealing in 50 years time.

And this isn’t the first time that things have been buried near Priory Chase, people were doing that about 1400 years ago.

  • Funny. A time capsule was buried at the entrance to the school site as part of the ‘opening’-shenanigans back in November 2006.

Still, best not to miss an opportunity to confuse future archeologists, eh?!?

    🙂
