A Chance To See….

As part of the training that District Councillors get, we had a tour of the district today, looking at new buildings, either completed or still under construction.

The highlight was probably a new house being built by the river in Hullbridge, using modern build techniques.

We took the chance, though , to take about 20 fellow councillors down Priory Chase, to look at the sports pitch area and St Nicholas School. We understand that after the intervention at the West Area committee, the contractors were put under pressure to clear away any rubble. (though Chris still found four pieces to take away early this morning.)

  • I think its brilliant that the Councillors came and saw the issues at this site first hand but I wonder if they noticed that the level of the new pitches are set at about 5 feet higher than the level of the pavement and houses that are opposite. This means despite the proposed plantation around the perimeter noise will carry over to the houses. This was a planning application passed by the Councillors that I do not believe is considerate enough to the local residents. Nothing but raised mounds of earth will be sufficient enough to absorb/divert the noise that will be caused. Not forgetting that in the summer months large groups will congregate here into the night.
