Beeches Bridge? in Beeches Road in Rawreth will be closed for much of the summer to allow? reconstruction work on the bridge.
- From July 14th there will be temporary traffic signals.
- On July 20th the signals will be removed to allow the London to Southend Bike Ride to pass unimpeded.
- Then the road will be closed for 12 weeks, with only a temporary footbridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.
And if you are not sure where Beeches Road is, it’s to the west of Watery Lane. So nobody will be able to drive directly along Watery Lane to Battlesbridge , this will force most of the Watery Lane traffic onto Rawreth Lane for 12 weeks.? 🙁
Just a pedantic observation ,Beeches Road is in Battlesbridge in the “parish of Rawreth”. As some will know Battlesbridge actually includes large areas of both Rettendon Parish and Rawreth Parish .There appears for convenience that RDC are trying to delete this historic area .
How so?
D .Not sure what you are saying .The fact remains that RDC in any documents to the area known as Battlesbridge, such as electoral list ,planning issues, makes no reference to Battlesbridge ,this contrasts with Chelmsford City Council who do ,as do Rettendon Parish Council.Battlesbridge stretches in a. Line from the “joinings” where the Rawreth Brook joins the Crouch,to Hambro Nursery ,includes most Beeches Farm to the boundary with Hullbridge and all points north .In CCC area it includes all the area south and around Woodham Road up to South Woodham including Tabrums Farm .It is not a Parish but known as a hamlet and was historically important as head of the River and provided wharves for the hinterland north and south up to Rayleigh .It has been an important Milling centre some of the buildings surviving .As you can tell I am proud of my birthplace .
Just wondered what you meant by your last sentence – of which you have now detailed. thanks.
Alistir, thanks for pointing this, will try to do better in future!
12 wks to do what they need to do on a very small, but important piece of road in Essex (i’m not mentioning towns….) seems excessive to say the least. A commute from South Woodham Ferrers to Ashingdon as I do takes forever, i’m so fed up with it as must be the residents and A LOT of workers. Roll on 12 wks and the results better be visible or all hell’ll break loose!
12wks seems pretty quick considering all the work they are doing.
Replacing the bridge, raising the road surface at the eastern end by 3ft to stop it flooding, and putting traffic control signals at Battlebridge. You didn’t think that they were simply replacing the bridge did you? Twelve weeks just to replace a small bridge would be crazy – ECC are not completely inefficient and oblivious to the chaos their actions cause you know!
Thank god its now open, but I guess the flooding (as last week) will now become a regular issue once again. Anyhow I noticed this morning someone putting in some spy cameras at the Hullbridge end of watery lane, I hope this isn’t a pre cursor to further road closures! Nearly run off the road into the bushes by Articulated trucks, thought there was a weight limit!!
We also have cameras on the Bridge and Goose Cottages in Battlesbridge.Hope they do not go walk a bout as they look useful to those with little scruples ! Hope there is a full public disclosure of the results of what looks like a full blown traffic survey .
