This month Rayleigh Through The Looking Glass has photos of sweetshops and confectioners in Rayleigh. The photo above is of Brooklyn Stores, on the coerner of Brooklyn Drive and Downhall Road, in about 1948. It was open until at least the 1960s , by which time it was called “Trouts”.
The photo below is of Bowens, in Church Street, in 1968.
