The Guardian website today shows the unemployment statistics for every constituenncy in the UK.
Last month Rayleigh constituency had 2.3 % of all people of working age claiming benefits. That’s an alarming increase of 43 percent in one year, and by 2.8 percent since November. But the actual unemployment figures are still much lower than in Southend.
By comparison:
Rochford and Southend East constituency : 5.9 %. An increase of 34 percent in one year, up by 1.6 percent since November
Southend West constituency : 3.9 % . An increase of 47 percent in one year, but down by 0.1 percent since November.
Castle Point constituency: 3.3 % . An increase of 44 percent in one year, up by 0.8 percent since November.
