Another item at Wednesday’s cabinet meeting is councillors allowances.
We have an independent panel of local people who advise us on what they think we should receive.
This year they are not proposing any big changes. They are suggesting a general increase of 3 per cent, which means that all councillors will receive at least 4,250 pounds before tax.
The other allowances that some councillors get (for being a group leader, member of the cabinet etc) will also go up by 3 percent. The only exception is a bigger increase for Terry Cutmore and Keith Hudson, Leader and Deputy Leader of the council.
