CROOKS smashed the back window of a Rayleigh home to steal more than ?10,000 of goods.

They broke into a house in Lamburnum Way and took cash. jewellery, and electrical equipment. They then opened the back door to make their escape.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who saw anything suspicious between noon on Friday, March 19 and 11.25am the following day….
Incidentally, we don’t try to write about every newsworthy crime that happens in our district – that’s the role of local newspapers, and the Echo covers that pretty thoroughly. (We tend to write when police are still seeking the culprits)
And there’s the danger that by reporting crimes, we give the impression that crime is particularly high here – when it’s not. In fact Chris recently had an email from a resident who was a police officer, who mentioned that a lot of police choose to live in West Rayleigh partly because of the low crime rate.
