Having trekked out to Canewdon I found the village hall where I knew it to be. Now that sounds an obvious comment but when I walked in and found an Agenda on the chair I found an excellent little map and directions but as these had not been available to the public beforehand I concluded they must have been for Councillors and not the public. It seems obvious that only the locals to Canewdon would be sure of where the hall was. The Council obviously do not expect aliens from another land, such as myself, to turn out for these things.

Having been told by Gillian that here was an excellent opportunity for the public to ask questions of their Councillors, I wondered if the public were told about the meeting. I subsequently enquired of some friends who live less than a hundred yards from the hall, had they known about the meeting. ?No, how does one find out about it?? The obvious answer is, only if you are a strange member of the school of ?interest? who goes searching for these sorts of things deep in the depths of the amazing RDC website ? and clearly the vast majority of the public are not! …
