A Warning From A Resident

One of our readers in the Rawreth area has emailed us last night:
Shortly before 8am we were woken up by a very insistent ringing on the door bell and banging at the door. We were having a bit of a lie in after a virtually sleepless night due to the storms the night before. Anyway, I staggered to the door – young man there, said he was gardening in the area for the Council and would we like our front hedge trimmed while he was in the area ?35. Half asleep I stupidly said yes, and he said he’d be back around 10.30. Anyway, after I came to I realised that no council contractor would be touting for work like that so I phoned the council who confirmed he was nothing to do with them ….. He never came back at 10.30, had he done I would have said sorry I’ve changed my mind,?and I am reasonably certain in my own mind?that this was because he got a sight of my very large German Shepherd showing all her teeth.? I decided to phone the Police as well and they have noted it as infomation and will see if it ties up with anything else, but they agreed with me that he was possibly looking to push his way in, or distract me so someone else could come in, and the sight of the dog made him think perhaps that wouldn’t be such a good idea.
Perhaps though you could put something on the website to warn others that he is operating in this area. …. Very pleasant but very insistent.
