The committee that deals with future development had a long meeting on Monday night, finishing at 10:10 pm.

There was some good debate but there weren’t any major changes, or policies thrown out.

Probably the key items were:

Chris Black was concerned that we would allow shoebox-sized flats to be built. He got support from the rest of the sub-committee to increase the minimum size of studio flats from 32.5 to 35 square metres.

Colin Seagers wanted tougher policies regarding houseboats on the Crouch and the Roach. After some passionate debate it was agreed that a new wording would be prepared and sent to members for consideration.

Several councillors were concerned about car parking standards and it is now likely that there will be a review on this some time in the future.
