Accoring to the Echo, the English Democrats Party are planning to put up more candidates next year:

THE English Democrats Party has set up a new branch to cover the Rayleigh, Rochford and Southend East, Southend West and Castle Point constituencies.

At least three seats will be contested in the Rochford District Council elections next year by the party, which is campaigning for an English parliament.

Former UKIP activist Brian Lee, eastern counties chairman of the party, said he was pleased to see the branch had been set up.

Paula Hayter, who achieved 30 per cent of the vote in Rayleigh Lodge Ward, will stand again, while Kim Gandy, who has stood previously in Basildon, will stand in Central Ward.

This will greatly alarm the local conservatives., especially if they stand in Ashingdon and Canewdon against Terry Cutmore, the Tory leader.

Meanwhile we ask ourselves – the English Democrats are a very small non-racist right-of-centre party who want a parliament for England – but have they given any thought yet to policies for our local district? For example , they seem to have been very quiet on the house numbers issue…

  • I fear the English Democrats will go the way of all single-issue parties. As soon as people start wondering what they would do about schools or hospitals or nuclear power, their initial ‘ooh, that looks interesting’ feeling will evaporate.
