“Wave of Disapproval” over loss of CCTV

The latest entry on Rayleigh Chamber of Trade’s website is an item about the loss of CCTV. They are distinctly unimpressed with the County Council and District Council:

“Since the announcement that CCTV cameras are being removed from the district there has been a wave of disapproval.

Some of the strongest feelings have come from Hullbridge where a 500 name petition has been issued to the Chamber for action.

New petitions have been introduced by London Road shops to support their anger. Installing Street lights is being proposed but it is not a substitute for the cameras. Lighting is a deterrent but it will not provide Police evidence after the crime has been committed. Only cameras can do this.

The Chamber has decided to take the views of its traders to the Council.”
