The Echo has a follow-up story on the accident at the junction of Downhall Park Way and Rawreth Lane:

Mrs Young said: “We were unable to find out the name of the witness, but should he be reading this, I would like to convey our heartfelt thanks for coming to my mother’s aid and calling the ambulance.

“My husband and I have only recently moved to the area and greatly appreciate the efforts of this gentleman and other bystanders who helped at the scene.

It says something about the community we have moved into.

“We were also bowled over by the professionalism of the police, paramedics and staff at Southend Hospital.”

Mrs Porter was admitted to Southend Hospital following the accident, but is making a good recovery.

If you know the person who helped Mrs Porter, call the Echo on 01702 321144.
