County Highways have refused to put up a directional sign showing the way to St Nicholas Church, Rawreth. A sign would certainly be useful because you can’t see the church from the main road. Apparently the main reason for refusing it is that it lies on a road with “Church” in it (i.e. Church Road) . Some thoughts on this :
– If you don’t know the area, by the time you spot the name of the road it’s too late to stop.
– Rettendon Church has a sign, even though it is in “Church Chase”
– If you assume there must be a church in Church Road, you are going to be really disappointed if you go down Castle Road, Rayleigh!
