What happened with Macro

Macro’s planning application for a 22 percent of their building on the Rawreth Industrial Estate came to the planning committee last Tuesday. The officers didn’t want it to ; they wanted to pass it without councillors discussing it. However we requested that it came to the committee for a full discussion.

One of the residents’ concerns was about the delivery hours – Makro originally wanted to deliver 24 hours per day. However the council officers had already asked that the delivery hours be restricted to the normal store opening hours. Another issue was night-time noise from boy racers etc. using the car park ? so we asked for a barrier at the car park entrance. With the support of Tory leader Terry Cutmore, this was agreed.

After that, the application was passed, with our support.
