Congratulations to Rawreth Lane resident Mr Alan Stone for using the Area Committee system to get something done.
At last night’s meeting he asked four questions about the state of Rawreth Lane:

Question 1)

Could this section of road be inspected again in order that work is funded from the 2009/2010 budget? I would be happy to discuss the problems with an inspector on site.

Question 2)

Could the standing water problem in the gutters be rectified at the same time as the road problem?

Question 3)

Could the pavement be resurfaced?

Question 4)

Why are pavements never swept on major roads such as Rawreth Lane?

The roads are swept (occasionally) but where people have to walk ,the mess can be considerable. I refer again to pavements adjacent properties 178 to 186 Rawreth Lane.

As a result , County Highways have promised to sweep the kerb-line today, and sweep the verge shortly.

There’s also the possibility of getting some major resurfacing done in Rawreth Lane as well – we as councillors will be pushing for this.

  • I have to report that today’s clean up was only partially successful. At 9am the road sweeping lorry did it’s job, and at around midday the men with the brooms and shovels arrived. Well done RDC I thought, but when I went out to check what what had been done (after men had left) they had swept the south side pavement but not the north one which I had requested to be done.
I contacted RDC and the person I spoke to could only assume that it was a communication problem between them and SITA.
I was told it would be checked out and rectified next week.
Only 8 out of 10 for this at present RDC!
