The local elections are on May 6th. Lib Dem councillors Chris Black and Chris Lumley are defending their seats, plus we have a few other candidates trying to win seats off the Conservatives.
If you read onlineFOCUS you’ll have any idea of what we’re about. For example:
There’s a lot of leafleting and other work to be done in the next few weeks, and we are always glad of any help…. But equally importantly, if you fancy having a go yourself at standing for council in a couple of years or so, contact us here at onlinefocus. You can shadow us for an hour or two and get a feel of what it’s all about….
NO TO A TEEN SHELTER – Chris, I understand that it’s a busy time for you but please do not this one slip through the net. I unserstand that the council official was on holiday in March, can you please ensure that the consultation process is as we have previously dicussed, both on this site and off-line.
I see you say the council elections are on May 6th but I had a Poll Card through saying that if a General Election is callled for that day then the Parish Elections will be May 27th. Is this correct? Why is this? They have been done at the same time before and it concerns me as I am presuming this means the School will be closed twice instead of just once.
It’s a good question, but it’s not an issue for Downhall.
The parish council for Downhall is Rayleigh Town Council – and there are no Rayleigh Town Council elections scheduled for this year….
However if you live in Rawreth, and the Rawreth Parish Council elections are contested, then they would be delayed until May 27th if Gordon Brown calls his election for May 6th.
If anybody has any doubt why we should oppose this shelter – last night in Downhall Park Way our local “yoofs” decided it would be a good idea to remove the drainhole covers and throw them into the ditch. Whilst this may seem a silly prank ask yourself this – would you like to drive into a one foot square , 3 foot deep hole in the road, at best your car would suffer severe damage and at worst you would have an accident. NO TO A TEEN SHELTER.
