Here’s a good local cause that’s worth reading about – and sponsoring.

It involves a memorial bike ride from Great Wakering to Berlin – to raise money for research into prostate and testicular cancer . As the website poignantly explains:

On the 31st January 2010 my Dad, Anthony ?Yogi? Chaplin sadly passed away aged 52 after struggling heroically with numourous health problems for many years. We are riding this memorial ride in the same spirit and values in which Tony lived. Hard work, adventure and camaraderie.
.
The Wakering to Berlin Team (Boz, Neil, Nathan, Greg, Sean and I) are looking to average around 100 miles a day through 3 countries on our 7 day journey across the continent. Starting from St. Nicholas Church in Great Wakering on Saturday 21st August and finishing at the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin on Friday 27th August.
.
We are all working out socks of training for this epic journey so please give generously. Everyman is a great cause and has some of the best scientists in the world doing vital research into prostate and testicular cancer. About 10,000 men die from prostate cancer every year in the UK. This works out as more than one man every hour.
.
Many Thanks,
.
Ben (on behalf of the Wakering to Berlin Team)
