A Conservative Councillor has resigned from Rayleigh Town Council, leaving a vacancy.

As the Town Council website states (under “Job Vacancies”):

Whitehouse Ward
VACANCY FOR A
TOWN COUNCILLOR
1. There is a vacancy on Rayleigh Town Council caused by the resignation of
Councillor Keith Grant.
2. A bye-election to fill the vacancy will be held if within 14 days (not
counting Saturdays, Sundays, Maundy Thursday and Bank Holidays) from
the date below ten electors for the Whitehouse ward give notice in
writing claiming such an election to the Returning Officer.
3. The Address of the Returning Officer is:
Rochford District Council
Council Offices
South Street
Rochford
Essex
SS4 1BW
4. If no such notice is given the Town Council will fill the vacancy by cooption.
Dated: 23rd March 2009

The election in Whitehouse ward (for 3 seats) was contested last time by 3 Conservatives and a Labour candidate:

Rayleigh Town Council ? Whitehouse Ward
Robin Richard Dray
809 Elected
36.1%
Keith David Grant
744 Elected
Alison Jane Mayor
264
Patricia Sheila Toomey
770 Elected

We wonder whether, if the Town Council ends up co-opting , they will consider co-opting Alison Jane Mayor, who came 4th last time…..
